We are proud to be associated with artists who work with such passion and tenacity and can go a step further to paint and then craft with something so beautiful and earthy as rice straw. This is a portrait of a groom in a traditional attire of the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. Here the tribals wear a head gear pronounced with bison horns and shell hangings covering the better part of their face. These are known to be symbols of good omen. The process is a tedious one and it takes on an average 5-6 days for our artists to complete one portrait. He first sketches it on wood then selects shades of rice straw ranging from white, cream, beige to golden husk brown. Then he cuts, shivels and shapes them to match the sketch and diligently sticks them bit by bit to make this look next to real.
